Governance
SocialFinance.ca is a knowledge sharing platform belonging to all Canadians who are building the social finance marketplace in Canada. SocialFinance.ca welcomes partner agencies to support the life of the site and its future growth. To become a partner of SocialFinance.ca an organization needs to be an active contributor and to promote the site within your constituencies. At this stage there are no fees to become a partner. However, you will be asked to provide input into the development of a fundraising strategy.
Below is an outline of expectations, and comments from current or prospective partners are welcome.
Partner Definition
- An entity that is actively contributing to the purpose pursued by socialfinance.ca
Partner Expectation
Partners are expected to make regular meaningful contributions to the development of socialfinance.ca. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Designating (at least) one blogger from the organization.
- Submitting at least one blog post a month on an area related to social finance.
- Commenting on at least one post every month (other than their own).
- Regularly updating the shared Google calendar with their organizational events and other relevant events * regularly updating the knowledge centre with resources from their own organization, and other relevant resources * providing adminstrators with an updated organizational profile * participation in bi-annual meeting.
- (optional) play a role in governance of the site.
Becoming a Partner
- Entities interested in becoming a partner can contact a member of the governing council at any time to express their interest.
- Expressions of interest will be discussed among the committee with approval requiring unanimous decision. Decisions will be arrived at as soon as practically possible for the committee.
- Services for approved partners will be activated upon acknowledgement of the policies and guidelines (see below) Terminating Partnership.
- Partners can terminate partnership at any time.
- SocialFinance.ca can terminate the partnership at any time based on the unanimous agreement of the governing council with not-less than 30 days notice to retrieve information from the Services Services Services of socialfinance.ca are provided by Google Apps and all users are subject to the terms and conditions entered into upon account signup. Other services provided by socialfinance.ca are provided on an as is basis under the terms of service, privacy and confidentiality, and acceptable use guidelines below. Google Apps provided through socialfinance.ca are offered under the following terms.
- Accounts: Each partner must request the number of accounts required for the purposes of their entity. Requests will be approved as available according to the current Google Apps service level. * Email o Email is automatically enabled with account setup. Each user is responsible for administering their own account. * Wiki o Wikis created by Partners or their users are to be tagged with the name of that partner.
- Subdomains: Each partner is entitled to one subdomain Privacy and Confidentiality.
- All materials published on socialfinance.ca are assumed to be under public domain license unless otherwise indicated or protected by the publisher.
- All users are also subject to the terms of agreement for using the services as determined by Google and individually acknowledged by each user at signup Acceptable Use.
- Under no circumstances shall any user use the services in the creation and transmission of offensive, obscene, or indecent documents or images, creation and transmission of material which is designed to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety, creation of defamatory material, creation and transmission that infringes copyright of another person, transmission of unsolicited commercial or advertising material and deliberate unauthorised access to other services accessible using the connection to the network/Internet.
Terms of Service
- All services provided by Google Apps are subject to the Google Apps terms of service.
- All service provided by socialfinance.ca are provided as is and socialfinance.ca makes no warranties with regards to their operation or availability.
- SocialFinance.ca is not responsible for any actions or damages resulting from the use of its services.
- SocialFinance.ca will seek protection and remuneration to the full extent of the law for any damages resulting from the actions of any user of SocialFinance.ca
