Ryan MacLean is a Project Manager at TakingITGlobal, an online social network for social change empowering more than 400,000 youth to understand and act on the world’s greatest challenges. As Project Manager of Microsoft Innovate For Good, Ryan is developing a partnership between Microsoft and TakingITGlobal to create a community for young people around the world to learn, share, collaborate, and develop their projects.

Ryan’s work with the nonprofit sector began with several environmental organizations based in Toronto, and continues through to today with TakingITGlobal. While completing his graduate thesis, Ryan worked with The Adventure Project, a nonprofit based in New York City which supports social enterprises creating jobs in developing countries. As a writer, editor, and researcher, Ryan has provided services for Industry Canada (Canada’s Industry Department), SocialFinance.ca, and others.

Ryan is a graduate of the University of Toronto (BA Honours, International Relations and Political Science) and Carleton University (MA, Political Economy). His graduate research focused on the growth of the social economy and associated challenges and opportunities for the nonprofit sector. Ryan currently lives in Toronto.
