Anshula Chowdhury is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Social Asset Measurements (SAM). Founded in May 2010, SAM is a Toronto-based social value metrics firm with industry leading expertise and experience in measuring and managing social value.
Anshula is educated in economics at the University of Toronto. She has pursued a diverse career path spanning the for-profit and non-profit worlds. Her career has taken her around the world: she has lived in San Francisco, India and Jamaica amongst other emerging, developed and developing regions. Previously, she was a founding director of the Young Social Entrepreneurs of Canada, the nation’s hub for young social entrepreneurs and has co-founded and run the Canadian Social Finance Chain micro-loaning program. She has also worked with UNICEF, implementing youth awareness campaigns in Nova Scotia and serving as a consultant on Economic Development and Sustainability for UNESCO Canada. She brings her knowledge of social value creation, social enterprise, startups, and quantitative skills to her work with SAM, creating customized social metrics for SAM clients and pushing the boundaries of existing social impact evaluation models.
Anshula has spoken at Ignite!Waterloo, Social Capital Markets 2010 Lightening Presentations, the MaRS Social Finance Best Practices Series, and guest lectures at OCAD University’s Masters in Strategic Foresight and Innovation program. She is available to give talks on social value metrics, trends in measurement, creating social value, challenges in the sector, and youth engagement.
