Erica Barbosa Vargas, is Program Officer with SiG@McConnell at the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation working on Social Finance and Social Innovation. She holds a Masters in Public Administration – Public and Economic Policy, from the London School of Economics, where she specialized in systems dynamics, institutions for economic development and behavioural public policy. She has 10 years of global professional experience in social, environmental and economic development through social enterprises, primarily in Latin America, Canada and the UK.
As a social entrepreneur, she co-founded Educating the Streets-Building Society, an award winning program for capabilities development of youth and working children in Bolivia. She sits in the Board and is strategy advisor of Bosques Foundation in Bolivia, which guides public policy, designs and implements strategies for adaptation to climate change, development of sustainable community economies, and forestry and productive development projects. Erica is adviser to leaders globally in the private, public and community sectors on social finance, shared value creation and social innovation. She is a collaborating researcher with the SSHRC-CURA partnership research on impact investing.
