Hima Batavia is a Research Officer at the Mclaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health in Toronto, Ontario, and The Earth Institute at Columbia University, where she investigates business innovation and health product development, in addition to the application of mobile and wireless technology in health systems in developing countries. The common thread that has emerged from her work is the pressing need to support and enable locally driven solutions with capital, training and mentorship, versus create uninformed solutions. The challenges of our world are an opportunity to do better, and she intends to follow that through.
Recently, she co-launched Toronto’s Acumen Fund Chapter, in addition to organizing Mobile Tech for Social Change at NetChangeWeek to catalyze a community in Toronto fanatical about remaking society with creative destruction.
