Howard is a passionate urban innovator and strategist. An urban planner and computer engineer by training, Howard has been an analyst for supply chain innovation projects in the Ontario Ministry Finance, a capital planning and funding geek at the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure, an environment and health activist at an NGO and was also a former elected student union leader at the University of Toronto.
Currently Principal at the ThinkFresh Group, Howard’s work focuses on seeing social finance and enterprise come to life in urban infrastructure. His projects includes Scadding Court’s shipping container Market 707 (Toronto’s first container market that is helping incubate small local businesses); strategizing on social enterprise models for affordable housing; and working on a new video project called The Good in Toronto which will profile innovative urban solutions generating social return.
Raised in Toronto, Howard also sits on the Advisory Group for Community Empowering Enterprises (CEE), is a part of the Community Team for TEDx Toronto and serves on the Board of the Metro Toronto Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic. When not trying to spread to gospel of change and innovation to the world, Howard loves to cook tasty meals and explore the planet through the lens of his camera.
