Katherine Harmsworth joined the Trico Charitable Foundation shortly after its launch in March 2011, bringing to the foundation ten years of experience in strategic philanthropy.

Katherine’s first foray into philanthropy was with the Ellis L Phillips Foundation whose mission was to promote charitable giving in New England. Her first experience with social enterprise happened in Boston, where she worked alongside a team of venture philanthropists to scale a bakery and café that employed marginalized people in South Boston.

She then went on to work as the Director of Family Philanthropy at the Toronto Community Foundation where she worked with families on creating a business plan for their charitable giving, often engaging with the second generation to assist in instilling family charitable values and continuing family legacies.
