Michael Wills is the volunteer Chair of Access Community Capital Fund (ACCESS), which assists small and emerging businesses gain access to financing when it is not available through conventional sources. ACCESS is a Canadian registered charity and operates by providing loan guarantees to eligible entrepreneurs. The fund was created by investments from socially minded individuals, organizations and businesses.
Michael works as an independent consultant in banking and microfinance in developing countries. Recent assignments include preparation for a merger and transformation to a microfinance bank of three microfinance institutions in Bosnia, the preparation of a Financial Sector plan for Sierra Leone, and work for the World Bank in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on the microfinance sector. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of Opportunity International’s microfinance bank in Ghana and Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International’s microfinance bank in Russia.
He also serves as Executive Director for EMAS Canada, a Christian charitable organization which sends health care teams to developing countries. He is married to Anna Dunets, an international consultant to the mining and oil & gas sectors; he has two daughters and is a member of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto.
