Sonia is currently working on BC Ideas a collaborative competition and online community focused on fostering social innovation across British Columbia. The competition challenges individuals to come up with ideas that address environmental, health and social issues facing their communities.

Previously Sonia has been a legal advocate for those seeking social assistance and individuals navigating the BC Human Rights system. She is the co-founder of Girls & Football South Africa an organization focused on empowering girls through the power of sport. She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Victoria, a Masters in International Studies: Global Political Economy and Conflict Dynamics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and studied at the Peace Research Institute of Oslo, Norway.
