Joe Deschênes Smith is a founder and principal of Trillium Housing whose mission is to create housing affordability. Trillium Housing brings an innovative financing model for both the development of affordable housing and its delivery to low and modest income home buyers.

Joe Deschênes Smith has high level experience in government and is a leader in the non-profit sector, bringing a broad network of relationships to the organization. Most recently Joe has experience in affordable housing finance at Home Ownership Alternatives, successfully expanding the reach of the organization and leveraging new funding and partnership. Previously, as Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Joe worked at the highest levels in the provincial government and had a hand in the development of several policy initiatives such as the New Ontario Planning Act, City of Toronto Act and new Ontario housing policies and programs. Joe has an MBA and an honours degree in Economics and International Relations.
