About ACCESS Community Capital Fund
ACCESS Community Capital Fund helps individuals without credit history obtain an affordable loan to improve their standard of living through entrepreneurship. Based in Toronto, Ontario, ACCESS is a Canadian registered charity granting micro‐loans where the abilities, skills and commitment of the applicant together with the strength of the business plan are key decision criteria.
Over the past year, ACCESS has been funded by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to replicate our micro‐lending platform to various communities in the GTA. In spring of 2011, ACCESS received further funding from the Citi Foundation to support the development of three specific micro‐lending programs in Black Creek, Thorncliffe Park and Regent Park.
Role Objectives
This is a unique opportunity to join a small team working to build and expand an organization that is becoming a key player in promoting micro‐lending and economic development in Toronto communities. The Program Coordinator will interact across numerous stakeholders and functional areas of the organization and face a number of opportunities to take on leadership as well as project management roles.
We are seeking an individual who has the ability to motivate and enable others and is passionate about facilitating access to supports that help make small business dreams a reality. The position will aim to provide support to loan applicants and recipients as well as assisting the various Loan Review Committees in their evaluation cycles and lending activities. The individual will also be responsible for managing ACCESS’ outreach initiatives and oversee the client intake process. He/she will work closely with the Development Manager in executing various other organizational objectives including program evaluation, marketing, training and fundraising.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- University graduate with minimum 2 years work experience that includes responsibility for building and maintaining relationships;
- Demonstrate strong team building and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage individuals across various socio‐economic backgrounds;
- Passion for community economic development, and strong interest in or experience with social innovation or entrepreneurship;
- Demonstrate experience working in community capacity building or with at‐risk communities;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail;
- Enthusiastic and ability to exercise professionalism across various situations and stakeholders;
- Analytical and research skills an asset.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with micro‐lending models and social impact evaluation metrics;
- Experience with, or knowledge of graphic design, web management or photography;
- Access to a vehicle is highly recommended.
Activities & Responsibilities
- Respond to and address client inquiries from potential applicants as well as loan recipients.
- Support all Loan Review Committees by attending meetings, training volunteers, scheduling interviews, assisting with application processing and follow‐up. Act as back‐up for the Chairs of each Committee.
- Assist in designing and implementing effective loan in‐take procedures that complement our organizational structure and resources.
- Actively participate in local community events and present ACCESS micro‐lending program to self‐employment training courses across our partner organizations.
- Assist in executing program evaluation initiatives on an ongoing basis – which includes managing the client database, reporting on social impact metrics and capturing client success stories.
- Research and report on target populations, community or industry developments, best practices and program opportunities as needed.
- Coordinate internal support programs for clients including the Mentorship program and external referrals.
- Assist with compilation of the Annual Report.
- Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies/procedures manuals on best practices.
- Assist with community events, fundraisers and ACCESS open houses.
- Other tasks as it relates to furthering ACCESS’ objectives.
