The SocialFinance.ca Team Is Growing - Seeking Volunteer Assistant Editors for January 2011

For the last several months, SocialFinance.ca has been fortunate to have two outstanding Volunteer Assistant Editors on board to help with various aspects of the editorial process. I am happy to announce that Bethany Pickard and Michelle MacLeod have volunteered to extend in their stay at SocialFinance.ca through March 2011.
We are currently looking for two qualified individuals to join them, beginning in January 2011, for a period of four to six months. The successful candidates will have strong written communication skills, an intuitive understanding of how to leverage social media, and an interest in the field of social finance
The Volunteer Assistant Editors will be asked to commit approximately 4-7 hours of work per week, performed remotely and on their own schedules. The successful candidates will work with the rest of the Editorial Team to source, edit, and distribute compelling content across SocialFinance.ca’s online presence.
Duration
Four to six months, starting in January 2011 (Note: The position of Volunteer Assistant Editor rotates throughout the year. Recruitment typically occurs in December, April, and August).
Description
The Volunteer Assistant Editors are key member of SocialFinance.ca’s Editorial Team and share responsibility for:
- Engaging the SocialFinance.ca community through the main website and by fostering discussion through our presence on social networks;
- Communicating directly with SocialFinance.ca writers to source high-quality, exciting, and relevant contributions;
- Ensuring SocialFinance.ca’s online presence is accurate and up-to-date, making necessary revisions as required; and
- Overseeing self-directed projects that result in outstanding written, visual, or audio content.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Previous experience in writing, editing, and online journalism;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
- A personal and professional interest in the field of social finance;
- Knowledge of, and fluency in, the world of social media;
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated;
- An openness to evolving responsibilities;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and in teams; and
- Proficiency at multitasking and prioritizing time and workload.
