Video: OxfordJam’12 Jammed with Good Conversation and Great Ideas

Late last month, running in parallel to the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, OxfordJam’12 took place in the Old Fire Station, a charity and social enterprise in the heart of Oxford.

Known as not only “a centre of excellence for creativity, participation, and enterprise,” but also “a place of change,” the location was fitting for this year’s fringe event, which seeks to create a space for the nurturing of social economy and social finance projects from around the globe. As this week’s nine-minute video shows, OxfordJam’12 delivered on its promise of providing an innovative, inclusive, and truly participatory environment.

The short film from the event features highlights from the many sessions, conversations, and good times that were had. As Matt Black from Matter & Co put it, “It’s just a brilliant place to be, full of inspiration and great ideas.” If you didn’t have a chance to participate in this year’s free, open access event, here’s your opportunity to get an inside look at what went on.

What are your thoughts on OxfordJam’12? Have you or your organization taken part in the event or do you plan to in the future? If you’re planning to organize an event, what are your key takeaways?

SocialFinance.ca searches the web and brings you a video every week to help you learn about the universe of social finance, in Canada and beyond. These videos are typically shorter than 10 minutes long, and thus are a great way to get you thinking about why social finance is important, and how it can help you meet your goals. As always, we will welcome your comments on each video - they are bound to start off a few conversations!
