This page will showcase social enterprises from across Canada. If you are interested in promoting your social enterprise contact the social finance team. Just remember, a social enterprise is a business that has a social and/or environmental objective as part of its core mission. Social Enterprises often use blended value business models that combine a revenue-generating business with a social-value-generating structure or component. Many commercial businesses would consider themselves to have social objectives, but social enterprises are distinctive because their social or environmental purpose is central to what they do.

Here are some great Canadian examples of social enterprises.
British Columbia
As one of the first mission-driven companies of its kind in Canada, Atira Property Management is a social enterprise that grew out of Atira Women's Resource Society. All profits from Atira Property Management are used to fund the Society’s housing and support programs for women and children who are rebuilding their lives after domestic violence.

Saskatchewan
Raven Heart Farms is a relaxing and welcoming nature-based retreat centre located in the heart of Saskatchewan. Ravenheart Farms offers quiet personal and spiritual retreats, specializing in Equine-Assisted Learning.
Core Neighbourhood Youth Cooperative is a program that balances both education and skill-development. Each youth can work towards completing their high school education as well as learning skills such as construction that they can use towards gaining employment in the community. More importantly, this offers youth an opportunity to make money, gain skills and gives them a sense of self worth.
Manitoba

Our product line is domestically produced, sweatshop-free and made using certified organic cotton and bamboo. In addition, 50 per cent of our profit goes to our charity partner, Free The Children, to support development projects in rural and impoverished areas across the globe.
