The MasterCard Foundation - one of Canada's largest - is independent, private foundation based in Toronto, with an endowment of over $1 billion. The Foundation primarily invests in microfinance and youth education, and has recently made some significant investments in microfinance internationally.
- A $9 million partnership with CARE Canada and Aga Khan Foundation Canada to expand the Village Savings & Loan Association (VSLA) model in Rwanda and Tajikistan. In this model, piloted by CARE, small loans are distributed to members of self-managed savings groups.
- A $19 million to a program with BRAC that extends financial services to poor across Uganda.
- Partnering with Microfinance Information Exchange to launch a new online platform for publicly sharing information on the performance of microfinance institutions.

The successful candidate in this newly created position will play a key role in building the MasterCard Foundation as a transparent, respected and thought-leading organization that is advancing access to financial services for the world's poor.
Based at the Foundation's headquarters in Toronto, Canada, the Program Manager will develop, manage, and evaluate charitable activities to build the field of microfinance globally. Program initiatives will focus on reducing poverty and disadvantage by enabling poor people, particularly women and youth, to gain and retain access to financial services that they can use to build and hold assets.
To achieve these outcomes, the program manager will work to promote inclusive financial systems, especially through the strengthening of microfinance institutions, networks, innovation initiatives, research strategies, and educational and capacity-building centers.
